I knew it....

Chocolate is actually incredibly good for you, and here's why
Next time you stock up on chocolate at the grocery store, you can say you're doing it for your health. A study in August found that older people who drank two cups of cocoa every day had an increase in blood flow to the brain, and that their memory and thinking skills improved. Chocolate can also help you avoid heart attacks and lose weight. You read that right — the fiber in chocolate actually suppresses appetite, so if you allow yourself a chocolate snack, you'll likely eat fewer calories that day. And since dark chocolate is better for you, you should generally eat the darkest chocolate you can handle. We have a feeling that won't be a problem.

Hocking Valley Scenic Railway

Location: 33 W. Canal Street, Nelsonville, OH
Phone: 1-800-967-7834
All Aboard!

The Hocking Valley Scenic Railway transports passengers back to a simpler time when the locomotive was the most efficient form of transportation.

The passenger cars, meticulously restored by volunteers, are historic treasures unto their own: a former B&O heavyweight combination baggage and passenger car built in 1918, three Rock Island commuter cars built in the 1920s, and the latest addition – a heavyweight day-coach railcar which originally served the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad through the 1950s.

The cars run on the same tracks used in the late 1800s and early 1900s to transport coal to central Ohio and on up to Lake Erie.

Rain or shine, trains depart from the Nelsonville Depot (at the corner of West Canal Street and Hocking Parkway, next to Rocky's) every weekend in 2013 from May 18th through the last weekend of October. Special event trains are scheduled throughout the year and are posted on our website.

Saturday & Sunday Departures:

14-mile round trip to Haydenville - noon (1 hour 45 min. ride)

22-mile round trip to Logan - 2:30 pm (2 hour 15 min. ride)

Eating red grapes and blueberries could boost your immune system

Researchers from Oregon State University analyzed more than 400 compounds to find out which ones were best at boosting humans' innate immune systems — the body's first line of defense against bacterial infections. They found that two compounds stood above the others: resveratrol found in red grapes, and pterostilbene in blueberries. Both of these compounds, known as stilbenoids, play a significant role in immune function. While the researchers pointed out that the results from their laboratory tests don't yet prove that scoffing red grapes and blueberries will make you super healthy, they said their research shows the potential of some foods to improve immune response

Chobani Yogurt

If your Chobani yogurt is hissing at you and tastes weird, here's why
Things haven't been so smooth for Greek yogurt maker Chobani after customers reported instances of bloated containers, odd tastes and illness. The company has quietly pulled 15 flavors from shelves across the country after a certain mold was found to have contaminated roughly 5 percent of its products. One woman said a container in her refrigerator started swelling and "hissing." Chobani's Facebook page is filled with testimonials from irate customers who are calling for a boycott, and some commenters are saying their posts have already been deleted. Chobani has yet to issue a formal recall and has so far opted to deal with each customer individually
